About Us

Our patients benefit from the close, family-centered dynamic of this practice.  There is a level of trust and cooperation in the office, and a feeling of being truly welcome when you come in, that is hard to find in other places.

Let us introduce ourselves.

Robert A. Smith, O.D.

Dr. Smith graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1977 and soon afterwards opened his practice in Mansfield. He is board certified as a Diplomate by the American Board of Optometry (only 10% of all optometrists nationwide have this certification). He is licensed by the State of Texas to practice Therapeutic Optometry and is qualified to treat many eye infections and injuries, including the removal of foreign bodies from the eye. He is also licensed as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist, which means that he is qualified to evaluate and medically treat glaucoma. With over forty years of experience, Dr. Smith is highly qualified and competent to care for the eye health of you and your family.

Dr. Smith is an active member of the Historic Landmark Commission and has served as its chairman for over 25 years.  He was added to the City’s Wall of Honor in 2015.  When he’s not at work, he enjoys playing golf, spending time with his family, and tending cows.

Multiple Winner of “Best Optometrist in Mansfield”

Ann Smith

Dr. Smith’s wife, Ann, manages the office. She graduated from Texas A&M University in 1982, and she completed law school at the University of Texas in Austin in 1985. She decided to help out at the office in the early 90s – and has happily been at the front desk ever since.

Ann was recognized by the City of Mansfield for her hard work and tireless devotion to her community.

She was added to the City’s Wall of Honor and named Citizen of the Year by the Mansfield Area Chamber of Commerce in 1996.

Our Practice

Community-minded and neighborhood-oriented, this practice has been located at the same place since 1977.  Many things in Mansfield have changed since then, but our dedication to our patients’ health and providing the highest-quality eye care to all patients has not.  You are the reason we come to work every day.
